Black Women and HIV Prevention: Bridging the Gap between Provider and Patient

9:00 am–10:00 am | Hyatt Regency | Imperial 12

Black women have been ignored when it comes to HIV for over four decades, often resulting in barriers to prevention and care. Health care professionals (HCPs) play a critical role in transforming this outcome, but we must consider how they can be better equipped with the resources they need to effectively engage their patients, particularly Black women, about HIV. ViiV Healthcare’s Risk to Reasons campaign, includes tools to help HCPs employ new messages and methods to empower Black women to take charge of their sexual health. Attendees will leave this session with the knowledge they need to engage Black women in effective and culturally competent conversations about HIV prevention and care.
